Week 1
1) Get to know Mrs. Brister with Google Slide presentation.
2) 'Round the Room' get to know students with "Spin the Wheel"
3) Discuss some of the things we will be doing in Idea Lab this year. Theme: Robots
4) Get out of seat - do the "Robot Dance"

Week 2
1) Discuss rules, consequences, rewards (incentives), and procedures of the Idea Lab. Show Google Slide presentation explaining each.
2) Practice coming in and being seated on the couch and at the tables.

Week 3
1) IPad technique and instruction: turning on and off, waking up, volume control, double-tap, swiping out apps, plugging in headphones, etc.
2) iPad app - Kiddopia

Weeks 4 & 5
1) Watch video on "StoryBots - How do computers work?"
2) Play "Find the Technology" on the Chromebooks.

Week 6
1) Discuss Digital Citizenship/Internet Safety. What is it? Why is it important to learn?
Use slide presentation as visual.
2) Discuss Digital Footprint. What is it? How can it affect us?
3) Go over the digital poster and color. Students may take home.

Weeks 7 & 8
1) Retrieve Chromebooks and log on.
2) Go over the parts of a Chromebook: Enter, Backspace, Space Bar, Caps Lock, Letter and Number keys, etc.
3) Discuss Touchpad. Practice one finger/two finger control, single click, double click. drag and drop.
4) Click on the links below to practice using the touchpad.
Weeks 9 & 10
1) Continue working with the touchpad on Chromebooks.
2) Demonstrate activities below using the Apple TVs.
3) Students may click on the links and practice touchpad skills with games.
Week 11
Students will use the app Epic! on the iPads to read or have read to them books of their choice.

Week 12
Students work on trackpad skills with some fun Halloween games.
Weeks 13 & 14
1) Using our new touchpad skills, students will work on letters, sounds, and simple sight words using the program, Teach Your Monster to Read!
2) Demonstrate activities below using the Apple TVs.
3) Students may click on the link below to begin.
Week 15
Students will use basic computer skills to work on websites that are Thanksgiving themed, (i.e. Shape Puzzle, Turkey Dress Up, and Thanksgiving Dot to Dot).

Week 16
Students will use basic touchpad skills: click, drag, and drop to complete each challenge with the Floogals below.
Week 17
Students will color by number online Christmas pictures.
Week 18
Students will use basic computer skills: Click, Drag, and Drop, to work on websites that are Christmas themed,
Week 19
1) Discuss New Year Resolutions. What is a resolution?
2) Watch "Squirrel's New Year Resolution."
3) Students put the characters and their resolutions in order as they appeared in the read-aloud.
Week 20
Students will use basic computer skills: Click, Drag, and Drop.

1) Discuss the seasons and different kinds of weather and elements of each.
2) How do we dress for winter weather? Students practice making decisions about dressing for the weather by playing "Dress for the Season" and "Dress for the Weather."
3)Go Noodle! Students pretend they are frozen and begin to melt.

Week 25
1) Students will use beginning coding skills to navigte the Fuzz family through the given paths and scenes using the Kodable app on the iPads.
2) Students will learn basic beginning coding functions as they strategize their way through the levels.

Week 26
1) Continue working on Coding skills with various functions into play: sequence, loops, etc. Coding Safari is an app that can be found on the Idea Lab iPads.

Week 27
1) Students will discuss what Read Across America celebrates and the contribution Dr. Seuss made to the world
2) Students will view the 1977 video version of Dr. Seuss's The Cat in the Hat.
3) If time allows, students may a play rhyming words game on Seussville.com.

1) Students will use a variety of hands-on building manipulatives to engineer various challenges.
2) Rotate from table to table to experience different manipulatives and challenges.
Weeks 32-34
Students will review letters, numbers, and shapes with the Osmo Learning system rotating each week.
Week 35
1. Students will use observation and visual skills to spot hidden items in given pictures.
2. Students will also practice chromebook trackpad skills to click on the items found in the scene.
Weeks 36
1. Students will use observation and visual skills to spot the difference in two given pictures.
2. Students will also practice chromebook trackpad skills to click on the items found in the scene.
Week 36
1) Discuss what a pixel is: a tiny point of light on a display screen, one of many from which an image is composed.
2) Create a pixelated image using the program, Pixel Maker.
3) Students rotate through the Coji Bots.
