Lesson Plans
Week 1
1) Get to know Mrs. Brister with Google Slide presentation.
2) 'Round the Room to get to know students.
3) Discuss some of the things we will be doing this year in Idea Lab. Theme: Robots
4) Students complete "All About Me" handout.
Week 2
1) Discuss rules, consequences, rewards (incentives), and procedures of the Idea Lab. Show Google Slide presentation explaining each.
2) Practice coming in and being seated on the couch and at the tables.
​3) Give students their folders and Idea Lab rules. Explain the materials needed to bring every week to class.
Week 3
1) Review rules, procedures, and consequences with a game of digital Kahoot!
2) Set up Idea Lab class students folders.

Week 4
1) Discuss Typing: posture, finger placement, accuracy, speed, etc.
2) Discuss Homeroom Keys
3) Introduce Typing Club
4) Students log in and begin to work the program

Week 5
1) Introduce Digital Citizenship
2) Discuss what Digital Citizenship means.
3) Discuss what a Digital Footprint is.
4) Walk students through PowerPoint and discuss each point of Cyberbullying, Internet Safety and Etiquette.

Week 6
Play Band Runner to review rules and make good decisions about digital citizenship scenarios given.
Weeks 7-9
1) Discuss Google Docs. Tour the features of Docs together with "Google Docs for Kids" episodes 1-3. Watch Lesson 1 Google Tutorial for a visual demonstration of various features of Google Docs.
2) Create an "All About Me" doc. about yourself.

Week 11
Students use research skills to investigate and learn about the world of chocolate as well as enhance their reading skills.
Week 12
1) Test your various skills using some fun Halloween online games. Click on the link below to go to site where you can try out different games to test your logic and reasoning skills.

1) Students will begin working on their 50 States project for History.
2) Students will create a Google Slide presentation on an assigned state and research all information needed to complete a rubric for a Google Slide presentation.

1) Discuss New Years resolutions. What is a resolution? How can we come up with a good new year's resolution that we can stick with?
2) Watch video!
3) Click on the link below. Copy the Google Slide presentation template. Complete each slide with your own ideas for the new year to make your own personal Google Slide 2019 presentation.

1) Discuss the life and accomplishments of Martin Luther King, Jr.
2) Create a timeline using Creately to demonstrate the important dates and events from his life.
Weeks 22 - 24
1) Students will meet the challenges of Hour of Code by learning various functions and moves to created projects.

Students will continue to learn and use a variety of coding tools, commands, and functions to maneuver Lightbot through his path to light up the blue tiles along the way.
Week 27
1) Students will discuss what Read Across America celebrates and the contribution D. Seuss made to the world
2) Students will have to opportunity to play online strategy games based on some of Dr. Seuss's most popular stories.

1) Students will work on the research and Google Slide portions of their Famous Mississippian projects in Idea Lab.
2) Students will follow the guidelines given in an instructional handout to include in their presentations.
