Week 1
1) Get to Mrs. Brister with Google Slide presentation.
2) 'Round the Room to get to know students.
3) Discuss some of the things we will be doing this year in Idea Lab this year. Theme: Robots
4) Get out of seat - do the Robot Dance.
5) Students complete "Read All About Me" handout.
Week 2
1) Discuss rules, consequences, rewards (incentives), and procedures of the Idea Lab. Show Google Slide presentation explaining each.
2) Practice coming in and being seated on the couch and at the tables.

Week 3
1) Review rules, procedures, and consequences with a game of digital Kahoot!

Weeks 4
1) Discuss Typing: posture, finger placement, accuracy, speed, etc.
2) Discuss Homeroom Keys
3) Introduce Typing Club
4) Students log in and begin to work the program

Week 5 & 6
1) Discuss Digital Citizenship.
2) What is your digital footprint? What is cyberbullying?
3) Watch the 3 short BrainPop videos below.
4) Play Zoe & Molly Online as well as Safety Land to reinforce digital citizenship skills

Weeks 7 & 8
1) Begin coding using basic directions.
2) Increase in difficulty as students get comfortable with commands.
Weeks 9-11
1) Explore our Solar System at NASA's Space Place!
2) Answer questions from the site on the Solar System WebQuest.
3) Play various apps related to Space and our Solar System.
Week 12
1) Students will practice using various computer skills such as click, drag, and drop as they enjoy some fun Halloween games.
Week 13-14
1) Coding with Lightbot on Idea Lab iPads...a continuation of on-going coding practice throughout the year.
Week 15
1) Students may view or read the story, Sylvester and the Magic Pebble.
2) Afterwards, click on the "Quiz" button and answer the given questions. Be sure to click submit after answering all of the questions.
3) Finally, click on "Make a Wish" and follow the oral direction your teacher gave you at the beginning of class.
Week 16
1) Continue Coding...use new commands like loops. Students must code within a given amount of commands per challenge.
2) Increase in difficulty as students get comfortable with commands.
Week 17
1) Students brainstorm words related to Christmas.
2) Click the image below to create a Christmas word cloud.

Week 18
1) Students may click on the link below to go to a site of Christmas online games.
3) Some games may require Flash Player to run. If so, click "allow" on the pop-up that appears on your screen.
4) If a game does not load, choose another and continue to play.
Week 19

1) Watch BrainPop New Year's video. Discuss New Year's traditions/resolutions
2) Complete the New Year word search with a twist!

Week 20
1) Students will complete pixel art pictures by counting spaces on a grid and filling in with corresponding color according to given picture.
2) Students will build 3D structures using the program below.
Week 21
1) Discuss Martin Luther King, Jr. and why we honor him every year on January 15th.
2) Watch the PowToon video and complete the word search and crossword puzzles online.
Week 22
1) Students will explore the online land of Poptropica and complete different challenges in an effort to save the characters and town.
Weeks 23 & 24
Students will work on math skills using the Happy Numbers program.

Week 25
1) Students will use the app, Crazy Gears, on the iPads to reason each challenge in how to make the gears function and work together.

1) Students will use the app, Puzzledom, on the iPads to solve various kinds of puzzles using logic, reasoning, and spatial awareness.
Week 28
1) Students will discuss what Read Across America celebrates and the contribution D. Seuss made to the world
2) Students will have to opportunity to play online strategy games based on some of Dr. Seuss's most popular stories.

Weekd 29-30
1) Students will use a variety of hands-on building manipulatives to engineer various challenges.
2) Rotate from table to table to experience different manipulatives and challenges.
Week 31
1) Students will use Idea Lab iPads to work with the Simple Physics app under STEM/Logic games.
2) Students will design treehouses, bridges, skyscrapers, ferris wheels, etc. that must withstand weight, wind, water, etc.
Week 32
1) Students will use the Idea Lab iPads to create and animate pictures on the Animation Kit app.
2) Students can draw, color, and animate their images in a variety of ways.
Week 33
1. Students will use observation and visual skills to spot hidden items in given pictures.
2. Students will also practice chromebook trackpad skills to click on the items found in the scene.
Week 34
1. Students will follow given code to see if they can determine which monster on the grid each leads them to.
2. Students will build code to create a path to a predetermined monster on a grid.
Week 35
Students will use the app A.L.E.X. to code the android through a maze of suspended plates, some of which slide.
Week 36
1) Students will use the app, ABCya, on the iPads to practice various skills using math, reading, logic, reasoning, and spatial awareness.
